Seismic Retrofitting in Tarzana, CA: Wood Frame Condo Complex

cover

When it comes to retrofitting, there is no one-size-fits-all solution – each building is unique and therefore requires a custom approach. This was certainly the case with our latest project at 849 McCadden pl. in Tarzana, CA.

The building, a wood-frame condo complex with tuck-under parking, presented several seismic vulnerabilities that needed to be addressed. Our team of experienced professionals worked closely with the client to develop a custom retrofit solution that would address all of the building’s vulnerabilities and meet all local code requirements.

The solution we ultimately implemented was a braced or moment-resisting steel frame with cantilevered steel columns. This solution not only addressed all of the building’s seismic vulnerabilities, but also allowed for the preservation of the tuck-under parking.

Throughout the project, our team faced several challenges, but thanks to our experience and expertise, we were able to overcome them and complete the project on time and on budget. The end result was a retrofitted building that met all local code requirements and exceeded the client’s expectations.

If you’re in need of a retrofit solution for your building, we encourage you to give us a call.
