For this particular project, our client was a 2-story building in Los Angeles with tuck-under parking. The client was concerned about the seismic vulnerabilities of their building and wanted to make sure it was properly retrofitted. After assessing the situation, we recommended braced or moment-resisting steel frames.
The installation of the steel frames was not without its challenges. The biggest challenge was working around the tuck-under parking. We had to be very careful not to damage the parked cars. Despite the challenges, we were able to successfully install the steel frames and the client was very happy with the results.
